Community Involvement

“When I came home to Marshall from law school, my father said, “Now you have to find something to do to give back to the community.” I told him that I knew a little bit about baseball so I began coaching Dixie Boys baseball and did so for over ten (10) years and then shifted to coaching Dixie Majors baseball and altogether coached baseball for twenty-three (23) years and softball for ten (10) years.”

Madison Hood has followed in her parents' footsteps and shortly after returning to the East Texas area from law school and going to work for the Gregg County District Attorney’s Office, she volunteered and became a board member of the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC - Martin House), which is a center for the treatment of abused and molested children in Harrison and Gregg County. She is the coordinator for the Special Rodeo held on the Saturday of the Marshall Rodeo each year for special needs children and adults. She served in that leadership role for over ten (10) years, having started when she was still in law school. While in law school, she also was a CASA volunteer.
